The Sol System is the star system containing Sol (The Sun), eight main planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune), eight major dwarf planets (Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, Quaoar, Skadi, Eris, and Sedna), two major asteroid belts (The Asteroid Belt, and The Kuiper Belt), along with countless other objects, including moons, asteroids, and comets.
The Sol System contains three main parts, the inner system (Encompassing the inner planets and the Asteroid Belt), the outer system (Containing the gas and ice giants), and the expanses (A colloquial term for any belt or group of objects between the edge of the outer system and heliopause).
